Junior & Adult Golf Competition

We take a look back at our competition in October

On Saturday 17th October, Windmill Golf Academy held its latest Junior & Adult Beginner Par 3 games at Thornbury Golf Centre.

Juniors & Adults had been participating in 5-7 week “Get into Golf” coaching programmes, these involved weekly golf coaching at the Driving Range, during all of these sessions they were learning the key golf skills.

The coaching programme led to a competition held in Thornbury, the 9 hole Par 3 age group individual competition was for the juniors in the morning & a 3 ball Texas Scramble for the Adults in the afternoon.

We had 21 junior golfers compete, ages ranging from 5-14 years old, for some the game was a first taste of playing on a Golf Course, which for anyone can be daunting. However the group of juniors took it all in their stride and took on the course with prefessionalism, conducting themselves with great golfing etiquette.

We had our very first hole in one achieved in the event by Bethany Curry on the 6th hole, such a great achievement by Bethany! Many golfers can go years without ever a hole in one and for Bethany to achieve this at the age of just 13 is amazing! After the morning session of golf we made a special presentation to her for the achievement.

There were so many fantastic shots on the course & another mention should be made to Oliver Holder who holed his shot from a very tricky bunker on hole number 4! Well done Oliver!

Congratulations to all of the competitors on your play & also how well you conducted yourselves throughout the time on the course. Thanks also to all of the parents who attended the event & supported the children on the course which made this truly a great family event. The weather was kind for us & a big thanks must go to Thornbury Golf Centre for hosting the event.

Our next Par 3 game will be our Family Christmas game on Saturday 12th December 2015.
