Thursday 14th January Fishing Open

Ray Baisley’s Winter Silver League

With a hard frost overnight, conditions were hard for the ‘Ray Baisley’s Winter Silver League’, on Thursday January 14th.

The weather was ice cold but it didn’t deter the 20 anglers who took part and we also had a fishing celebrity at the lakes as World Championship Angler, Des Shipp (below), joined us.

Des Shipp is a regular in big match fishing magazines and is a full time match angler. Des fishes as part of the England Team and a consultant for one of the biggest names in Match Fishing.

However, it was P. Bairnfield from Peg three who stole the lime light when he came first with 8lb 15. Paul had a bonus tench.

Fishing from Peg 23, Des Shipp was second with 7lb 6 and he won his section also.

Third was D.Wride with 7lb 2 from Peg one.

Coming in fourth position was J. Barker with 6lb 6 from Peg nine.

Fifth was Tony Rixon (below), fishing from Peg 21 and second in his section with 6lb 1.

Sixth was M.Jones with 5lb 12 from Peg 25.

“Well done to all, especially for putting up with the cold conditions,” says Fishery Manager Terry Boulton.
