There are several types of archery practiced in the UK today. The main types are target, field, clout, and flight, and each requires slightly different shooting methods and equipment. Target archery is the type of archery practised at the Olympics, and is the version most beginners learn first. Archers shoot a set number of arrows at targets set at specified distances on a flat surface. This is the type of archery offered here at Windmill.

Experience Archery Taster sessions last one hour. They are aimed at people who are new to archery and want to give this fantastic sport a try. Those who want to progress are advised to book on to one of our Group Courses or a "Private Lesson".

All sessions take place outdoors and we are always subject to the predictably unpredictable weather*. You are advised to dress appropriately for the conditions but must always wear footwear that covers the toes and clothing that covers your shoulders and waist area. Tight fitting clothing that does not restrict movement are best. Long hair should also be tied back and loose jewelry must be removed.

*If weather conditions on the range make shooting unsafe, the session will be cancelled.
