There are several types of archery practiced in the UK today. The main types are target, field, clout, and flight, and each requires slightly different shooting methods and equipment. Target archery is the type of archery practised at the Olympics, and is the version most beginners learn first. Archers shoot a set number of arrows at targets set at specified distances on a flat surface. This is the type of archery you will do on these “Experience Archery” Taster Sessions. You will be given instruction in safety and one to one tuition in how to shoot by a qualified coach. You will then have a short time to practice shooting at your target before finishing with a mini competition or game.

The session will last approximately one hour. Spaces are limited. To reserve your place please book and pay in advance.

Important Notices:

  • All sessions take place outdoors and we are always subject to the predictably unpredictable weather. You are advised to dress appropriately for the conditions but must always wear footwear that covers the toes and clothing that covers your shoulders and waist area. Tight fitting clothing that does not restrict movement are best. Long hair should also be tied back and loose jewelry must be removed.
  • All equipment is provided participants are not permitted to use their own equipment.
  • Archery is a sport that requires a certain amount of mobility and strength as well as concentration. Please contact us to have a discussion with our coach if you think you may require additional support to participate. This is particularly important if you have any medical conditions that may affect your mobility, sensory awareness, or communication.
